The film essay is dedicated to the German documentary filmmaker Colin Ross, who was born on June 4, 1885, and committed suicide on April 29, 1945. Enlightener, traveler, prolific writer, and a very popular journalist: for a long time, cinema was not the main area of our hero’s ​​interest. By carefully tracing his footsteps and remembering the selectively fragile facts of his biography – his films, we will, first and foremost, try to answer the question: why has there been a seemingly unofficial conspiracy of silence around this undoubtedly unique figure for seven decades now?

Kirill Zaharov

Kiril Zaharov is a director, editor, and actor on both stage and screen. From 1999-2003, he studied at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts (class of Lidia Monakova). In 2014-2015, he attended the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors (the class of Irakli Kvirikadze and Andrey Dobrovolsky). Since 2017, he works as a director and editor at the TV channel Culture VGTRK Russia 1. Since 2019, he teaches acting at GITIS (Russian Institute of Theatre Arts)
