Italian-Armenian sculptor Vigհen Avetis was born on January 25, 1968 in Yerevan. He studied at the Yerevan Fine Arts and Theater Institute and the Fine Arts academies of Poznan and Florence. Avetis lives and works in Florence since 1998. Since 2008, he has been a member of the “40 Florentines” association, and since 2009, he is a member of the Florence Artists Association after Donatello. In 2006, he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and since 2007, he teaches at the Palazzo Spinelli Institute of Art and Restoration. He is an associate professor. He is the author of the fountain-monument statue group “Sasna Tsrer, Tsovinar with Sanasar and Baghdasar”. He was named an Honorary Citizen of Arabkir (2008), Aparan (2018) and Cavriglia (2022). He was awarded the “Grigor Narekatsi” order by the Ministry of Culture of Armenia and King of Italy Vittorio Emanuele’s Silver Medal. In 2014, he was awarded with the “Fiorino D’Oro” prize as best sculptor. Vighen Avetis has organized many international sculpture festivals. His sculptures decorate various cities around the world, exhibition halls and private collections.
