Greetings From RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports-2024
Dear friends,
Dear Festival Participants,
Some say that documentary cinema has its own face and character. According to them, it is a unique dialogue between the author and the audience, while others are convinced that it is the documentation of our life. I think these views truly reflect the public’s attitude towards documentary cinema.
It is impossible to imagine the cultural palette of Armenia today without international film festivals, among which the “Apricot Tree” International Documentary Film Festival has its firm place.
The ten-year-old film festival expands its geography year by year. Since 2015, more than 50 countries have participated in the “Apricot Tree” festival. However, this is not merely a platform for watching films from other countries. The festival contributes to the establishment of direct connections between the professional community, the implementation of experience exchange, and the formation of a taste for watching and knowing documentary films.
I would like to emphasize that “Apricot Tree” is one of our established regional festivals. Launched in Ujan, it was able to create a cultural environment with its loyal audience. In the last two years, Apricot Tree has changed its festival address to Debet. Following festival tradition, the filmmakers who came to Armenia from different parts of the world will live in a rural environment for a week, and get to know the Armenian way of life and culture, while the residents of the settlement and region will have the opportunity to see the best examples of documentary cinema from recent years.
Dear audience, while congratulating the organizers on the occasion of the jubilee, I want to wish the festival longevity, the creative team – new inspirations, and the audience – an opportunity to communicate with the amazing world of documentary cinema.
