After a happy childhood in the countryside, Jacob – the filmmaker’s animated alter ego – and his parents move to a Chinese megalopolis. He becomes aware of his ethnicity through the racism he experiences at school. He decides to run away, risking ensuing isolation and solitude. A tender animated composition, which evokes the pain of exile.
Perghuzat Enver
Perghuzat Enver moved to Germany and began his film studies at HFBK University of Fine Arts Hamburg in 2016. He was awarded the HFBK Achievement Grant Award in 2019. His graduation film Stories of Jacob was nominated for the First Steps Award in 2023 and had its national premiere at the 65th Nordische Filmtage Lübeck (Lübeck Nordic Film Days), and was later selected at Visions du Réel 2024. Currently, Enver is based in Hamburg, Germany.
